This recently renovated hotel was such a vibe! Booked two nights after new years when I saw they had a special, otherwise it’s a bit outside my price range. The staff at the front desk were SO helpful and one even escorted us to our room and gave us great intel for local bars and restaurants. The neighborhood is super walkable and close to the trolley as well as on the bus line. Late check out (noon) was great and they accommodated an early check in for us at no extra charge. Too bad the weather was too cold for the pool otherwise we’d be hanging out there every afternoon!
I attended a reception for the undergraduate school I attended. The event was very nice. Food and drink were provided and the location was in a building on the grounds behind the main building. It was a nice place to mingle, eat and drink in a pleasant, casual atmosphere. I would love to see more of the main building because the glimpse I had as I passed through was very well done.
We stayed at the Hotel Saint Vincent for a week during our honeymoon. The hotel is beautiful and is in a wonderful location. There's a nice coffee shop across the street and if you like to walk, you can easily make your way to several restaurants, bars, retail and even more coffee shops. We also walked from the hotel, into the French Quarter for a little early morning exercise. I felt very safe in this neighborhood. We always enjoy staying in the Garden District. The food is excellent as well as the service. We ate dinner and breakfast several times at San Lorenzo. We also enjoyed drinks while sitting at the Paradise Lounge. My only negative feedback would be the rooms. We had a Courtyard King. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The sheets were soft, although I wish there had been an additional blanket available, in the wardrobe perhaps. The bathrobes are thin, which is fine for the summer but it would have been nice to have warmer bathrobes for the cooler weather. They were also a bit worn out. The room was very dark. Dark grey paint covers the walls from floor to ceiling. The lack of lighting in the room kept everything dim, I felt like I was in a cave. Even the bathroom lighting is insufficient for shaving or putting on makeup. The shower was amazing, excellent water pressure. Although, you have to turn the handle all the way to the left and around the fixture to get hot water. Then to turn off the water, I had to force the handle all the way back around. I felt like I had to manhandle the thing. It's obviously seen some wear and tear and needs replacing sooner, rather than later. A small vanity mirror for putting on makeup or for men to use while shaving, would be nice. Also, the lighting needs improvement, at least in the bathroom. I felt like at times, the hotel focused more on being "Instagram ready" than functional. They did offer a blowdryer but there were zero attachments.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here.
Very cool hotel. The staff is friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Love the pool area and rooms are fun and comfortable. Definitely staying here on my next trip to NOLA.
The hotel was beautiful and exquisite; the room and amenities were top notch. Everyone's service was excellent. The shower didn't really seem to get hot at all; just a very mild lukewarm (maybe that specific room needs maintenance?).
The only real snag was ordering room service; I called the front desk to order, who transferred me to the restaurant, who then told me they don't do evening service (the menu in our room said all day). I then walked down to the restaurant, who then told me to order room service at the bar. I ordered at the bar, and gave them my room number. When it arrived, the food was incomplete/prices incorrect.
Apparently, the menu in our room was completely different from what was available. We returned the food and received a full refund, but by that time it was too late to get food from anywhere else on magazine street so we went to bed hungry.
Beyond the disappointing room service experience, we enjoyed our stay, and would recommend Hotel Saint Vincent!
Loved this hotel. I've been to New Orleans many times but I'd never stayed in the Lower Garden area. There is so much to do and the area is gorgeous. The room was amazing and the meeting space was beautiful with wall to wall floor to ceiling windows, which was very nice. Usually meeting rooms are inside the hotel and have very little natural sunlight. This was such a great change. I noticed I didn't get sleepy like I normally do in hotel meeting space because of the lack of natural light.
Now let's talk about the service. The first night I got in late after the room service kitchen closed. The gentleman at the front desk, went out of his way to find me food and deliver it to my room. And that is pretty much how my whole stay went. The staff consistently went above and beyond to make sure all my needs were met. On my final day, I wanted to try yakamein, which is a very local and typically comfort food made at home. But the staff researched for like 30 minutes finding a spot that actually sold the dish AND it was delicious.
I highly recommend this hotel.
This is my favorite neighborhood in new orleans. Hotel is absolutely gorgeous. The pictures of the rooms online don't even do it
justice. They are very spacious, high ceilings, no detail was overlooked. The service is top notch across the board. Its pretty expensive for new orleans, but worth it. I do wish the pool was heated, it was way too cold to go in which kinda sucked. It also would have been nice to have some complementary water in the rooms, when you are paying that much it’s something I expect.
I too stayed here when it was a hostel. It was in the process of being sold when I was there, and I had a room and a bathroom to myself, and the cost was a fraction of what they charge now. This was indeed a children's asylum during the yellow fever outbreak, and as a hostel, the ambiance remained. You could truly believe the place was haunted! Finding out that the building had been gentrified was extremely disappointing. At least the exterior seems to have remained historic.
